Chocolatey, Fruity Healthier start to your day.

Ingredients

Step 1

1/2 cup Rolled Oats

1 tsp Cacao

1 tsp Ground Flaxseed (optional)

1/4 tsp salt

1 handful raisins

1/4 apple grated (about 1/4 cup)

Step 2

3/4 cup Barebells Chocolate Milkshake

1 tbsp Greek Yoghurt or Plant Yoghurt

1 tbsp Cherry Jam (optional)

(A little extra yoghurt or milkshake to loosen as desired)

Optional Toppings

Cherries

Blackberries

Strawberries

Crushed Nuts

Desiccated Coconut

Peanut Butter

Honey / Maple Syrup / Agave

Method

  1. Mix all the step 1 ingredients in your breakfast bowl. I tend to mix everything but the apple together first and then mix in the grated apple at the end.

  2. Pour the Barebells Chocolate Milkshake over the oats. Dollop the yoghurt and Cherry Jam in the bowl and mix everything together.

  3. Place in the fridge for at least a couple of hours or I usually prepare the night before.

  4. When you are ready for breakfast, take the bowl out the fridge, get your toppings at the ready. Give the bircher oats a little mix up and add more yoghurt or milkshake as desired. The oats will have worked their magic overnight and become soft and porridge like, but you might want to loosen it up a little.

  5. Add your toppings as desired and enjoy!

Notes

  • I prefer Cacao, but if you can’t find any Cocoa will do the job too.

  • Not only do I like to add the flaxseed for its health benefits, it also helps to thicken the texture of the oats. But this is optional, it works just fine without.

  • If you are avoiding refined sugars, then you can easily omit the cherry jam, or find a sugar free alternative.
